Marti Nottingham, BS
Assistant Practice Manager

Marti Nottingham joined the AMCL team as the Senior Veterinary Assistant when we opened our Ashburn Farm location in December 2002. Having the experience of opening this practice, she was the natural choice for opening our Brambleton location as the Assistant Practice Manager in July 2007. She has over ten years of veterinary hospital experience, eight years of which have been in a supervisory role. Marti has chosen this line of work because she has a true love of animals and enjoys helping them in any way she can.

Much
This Northern Virginia native graduated in the class of 1993 from Osbourn High School in Manassas, Virginia. Marti then moved to Blacksburg, Virginia to attend Virginia Tech. Four years later, she earned her Bachelor's in Wildlife Science with a minor in Biology. Since then, Marti has attended several veterinary technology and management seminars and has learned various techniques in canine behavior training. Her dog training experience includes clicker training, CGC evaluation, tracking, and herding.

Marti shares her home with two cats and four dogs. The cats, Pandora and Darius, are both black domestic short hairs. Darius will eat ANYTHING and often puts his head in the dogs’ mouths. Pandora is often grumpy and prefers not be bothered. Her dogs, Ember, Willow, Tuck, and Much, make for a great home security system. They are all rare-breed Shiloh Shepherds. While intimidating in presence, all they really want to do is play and be loved!

Darius
In her spare time, Marti enjoys just about anything she can do outdoors, especially with her dogs. She has taught her dogs to herd sheep and has actually titled one dog in herding. As an active participant in the Shiloh Club and Rescue, she has personally fostered dogs looking for permanent homes and has offered her technical knowledge to the club. In the summer, you’ll find Marti in her garden or kayaking down the Potomac River.

MudAs an employee, Marti is a rare jewel. She likes to stay busy and on top of things; her multi-tasking abilities are amazing! Marti is always looking for new and better ways of doing things and sets high expectations for herself and those who work with her. Technically speaking, her skills are unsurpassed and she is always eager to share her knowledge with her peers. Her love of animals, attention to detail and overall work ethic are perfectly suited for working in an animal hospital. We are very lucky to have Marti on our team!
